Inside The Mind Of A Reluctant Blogger

Hello, reader! Welcome to one of the countless blogs floating in the vast ocean of the Internet. Blogging, or any creative pursuit, requires a certain amount of discipline to ensure that transient moments of inspiration are translated into something more permanent, such as a canvas, page, or in this case, a blog. Most regular bloggers have this self-discipline, but not this reluctant blogger. Not even a little bit. This is my second attempt at a blog. My first incursion into the blogging territory was rather a dismal one. Swayed by the look and feel of the website/blog, I lost vision of the essence or the soul of the blog : my random musings. The blog went through a cosmetic metamorphosis every week with the stagnant number of posts. And when the realisation dawned on me, I pulled the plug on that blog. With a renewed vigo, I started out again with a unwavering focus on creation of posts. Once I had written a respectable number of posts, I decided to create a paid Wix account. There's nothing quite as motivating as receiving notifications of Wix bills gnawing away at your meager bank balance. And the journey of the reluctant blogger continued.

When it comes to creative pursuits like blogging, maintaining self-discipline is key. However, for many people, including myself, this can be a challenging task. That's why I've adopted a different approach to writing that helps me stay motivated and productive. Rather than waiting for inspiration to strike, I make it a habit to write about anything that comes to mind, even if it seems trivial or unimportant. Just jot down any ideas or inspiration on your notes app, however stupid it may be.

Your mind is for having ideas, not holding them

This allows me to exercise my creative muscles and keeps me in the habit of writing regularly. Over time, I've found that even small and seemingly insignificant ideas can blossom into fully fleshed-out pieces of writing with the right amount of effort and attention. Of course, simply writing regularly isn't enough to make a successful blog. I've also found that adding visuals, such as pictures or videos, can help break up the monotony of text and add an extra layer of interest for readers. Whether it's an image that directly relates to the writing or something more abstract, visuals can help capture a reader's attention and keep them engaged throughout the piece. More than the readers, it helps me break the monotony. I switch to Canva (amazing platform, btw) to work on the visuals / creatives for the blog post. Please find below, Exhibit B:

Overall, my approach to writing may be unorthodox, but it works for me. By focusing on consistency and creativity, I've been able to establish a productive and fulfilling writing routine, even without the traditional self-discipline that many bloggers rely on. But then, this does not imply that this will work for everyone.

When it comes to blogging, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. What works for one person may not work for another. That being said, it's important to experiment with different methods and find what works best for you. Don't be afraid to try something new or unconventional. Who knows, it may lead to your most successful blog post yet!

Thanks for reading this far, if you did. If not, I don't blame you. I wouldn't read this either. See you next time, maybe. Or maybe not.

This is the reluctant blogger, signing off.
